Large Hadron Collider or LHC just triggered my curiousity after watching a report from CNN. Not just that, the Google changed their logo to an LHC sucking up their logo. Does this mean, the LHC can suck the entire earth, well, the scientists dismissed the reports from critics that it would pose an ominous event, like what I've said, sucked the earth. According to CNN report, any blackholes that would be created would be tiny and would not have enough energy to stick around very long before dissolving. They have been working for this experiment in order to:
- To discover possible existence of extra dimensions (that's cool, for me).
- To find 'theoretical' particle called Higs boson, a.k.a. the God particle, which would help explain why matter has mass (I'm still asking why).
- Recreate the condition of less than a millionth of a second after the Big Bang, when there was a hot "soup" of tiny particles called quarks and gluons, to look at how the universe evolved, said John Harris, U.S. coordinator for ALICE, a huge detector specialized to analyze that question.
Well, this experiment will bring surprises, for sure. It would deteriorate any theory written in the your physics book or it will make your physics book thicker and harder to study (just kidding). Whatever that is, make sure there's no big black hole sucking me up, because I want to live longer.
